An ode,
according to Wikipedia, is “a type of lyrical verse”, and
more specifically, an English ode is“typically a lyrical verse
written in praise of, or dedicated to someone or something which
captures the poet's interest or serves
as an inspiration for the ode.”
I think we can safely
say that this blog is not “lyrical verse”, and I'm pretty certain
it won't contain much in the way of “praise” for psychiatry as it
presently stands.*
But it is most
definitely, wholeheartedly dedicated to psychiatry and psychiatrists,
who indeed provide inspiration. I'd also like to make an honorary
dedication to those working in mental health care who's daily practice
resembles a satirical sketch of themselves. We know who you are,
although you probably don't...
Warning: a hard hat is
advisable due to potential of heavy sarcasm.

*Psychiatry,
not psychology. In short, psychiatry is the medical approach
to disorders of the mind, whereas psychology is a more social
approach looking at behavior. My opinions on the latter are
considerably more favourable!
